Welcome
The fabulous hydrocarbon riches of Western Canada have attracted many
colourful and pioneering oil barons from around the world. They have
also been the proving ground for local business men and women to compete
with, and become themselves, world class companies.
About Wermac
Wermac Electric (1994) Ltd. is one of those Alberta-based family business
which started small and has grown progressively by dint of effect and
ingenuity. It was originally founded in 1983 by Brian Mackinnon as an
oilfield service company known particularly well for its control systems
for pump jacks used in Northern Alberta. In the late 1980s, through
a related company, it developed its own major service centre in southeast
Calgary.
In 1994 Jim Mackinnon, P. Eng., joined his father's company and as
president, has driven Wermac to revenues of over 10 million and increased
employment from one to over 30. "We changed our focus from being
a supply company that provided service, to more of a service company
with supplies," says Mackinnon. Building personal relationships
with customers and strong on-site service "provides information
about problems in the field, which we turn into opportunities for Wermac."
Strong in computer technology, Wermac designs and develops many unique
oilfield electrical products. The company is a recognized leader in
VFD (variable frequency drive) applications, unassociated natural gas
power generation, oil producing top drives and SCADA in the oil patch.
Wermac has designed custom equipment for many leading Canadian companies
and its products have been sold abroad to such countries as Indonesia,
United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, the United States and others.
Work With The Best
Wermac Electric management strongly supports employee growth through
training and education and company leaders are active community participants
in programs that range from safety for children to amateur athletics. |
